Splurge Day :)

WOW…What a day! An awesome day but a long day with lots packed in.

Thankfully my day started off with an awesome iced coffee made with the Keurig. I don’t know about any of you but I love my Keurig coffee maker and I love it even more since I have been buying the iced coffee and brewing it over ice. I also love it even more after the awesome cup my sweet Lew bought me last night to brew my iced coffee in. (See, I was having problems because this coffee is made to be brewed over ice and then add ice to it, it is very strong. Well you can’t brew it in a glass because the glass will break so this cup is perfect!)

I also enjoyed the same smoothie as yesterday morning that didn’t get its pictured made this morning because the camera was charging!

After breakfast we headed out to the Cornhole tournament to support West Greene’s basketball team. Lew and his partner Keema finished fifth or sixth (we aren’t real sure) out of 25 teams! I thought that was pretty good.

After cornhole we went back to the blackberry jam making (that I didn’t make it to this morning) for a pot luck lunch. We had to make it quick because I forgot to make a formula stop at the house on the way :)

Well…I’m terrible…I deleted the picture of my lunch when I was cleaning out the memory card but I will get better.

My lunch included:

  • spinach and pasta salad
  • 1 slice of tomato
  • 1 deviled egg
  • chicken salad pinwheel thingy
  • cheese and wheat crackers
  • slice of cantaloupe

Since I am a pastor’s wive I have been to more than my share of potlucks! I have been trying to learn tricks to eat healthier at them. The best trick I can tell you is skip all the stuff at the beginning. This is normally all the meat and rolls. If you get to the middle then you get all the veggies (where we live these are normally homegrown yummy things) and then the cold stuff is always at the end and normally the healthiest. Such as, fresh fruit/veggies and salads.

After lunch we came home and finally were able to give bottles and put the babies down for a nap! (They really needed it!) During naptime we have a visit from some friends from one of our past churches and then my cousin Will, who was on his way back to Baltimore stopped in to meet the babies. It was so good to see him!
We then had more avocado! Daisy did pretty well with hers tonight.
A little about Daisy, today she has been obsessed with her feet and her fingers…

The highlight of the day was definitely dinner at The Farmer’s Daughter. I will be the first to admit I am not all into country food or meat and three restaurants but The Farmer’s Daughter is southern food at its best. They have a set menu and you pick two meats and it is all served family style.

(This is Lew trying to show off his photography skills but I am not sure how good this pic is at doing that)

My plate:

One piece of cajun fried catfish, carrot souffle (to die for), cornbread salad, coleslaw, corn on the cob, fried squash. I also had a piece of cornbread. (The best cornbread I have ever had)

Dessert: Peanut Butter Pie

Yes, I ate every bite :)
