Church Day

Being a preacher’s family our day on Sunday probably starts off much different than most. Our alarm clocks begin going off at 5:00 a.m. for Lew to get up and finish everything for sermons and bulletins. Then my alarm goes off at 6:00 and then I snooze a couple times and was finally up by 6:20. We shower, have breakfast together, feed babies, dress babies, dress ourselves, pack the diaper bag and are out the door by 8:00 a.m.! It is definitely busy! There is just something about Sunday mornings that everything seems to take twice as long and I never seem to be able to get motivated, but we make it most of the time.

For breakfast I made a double batch of smoothie because Lew and I were up at the same time for the first time this week! It’s so nice to actually see him when I wake up in the morning. Lew informed me that he did not like the ice in the smoothie and I am beginning to think I don’t either :(

Today’s smoothie (2 servings):
-2 cups skim milk
-2 frozen bananas
-big handful frozen strawberries
-ice
-2 scoops of vanilla whey protein powder

My smoothie bowl was topped with Udi Cranberry Granola

I also had a cup of vanilla iced coffee with half and half and one truvia packet

After breakfast we headed out to the church service for the morning which was great except for the fact that no matter how tired my daughter is she will not go to sleep with me holding her or hardly in the carseat unless it’s in the care so she just rolled all over me! Same thing for the second service!
Our sweet friend Emily came to visit us today and came to our house for lunch after church.
Since I had plenty of veggies still in the pantry it wasn’t too hard to decide what to make.

Sunday Lunch
-Skillet Grilled Chicken
-Roasted Potatoes, Broccoli, Red Pepper, and Mushrooms (My new favorite way to cook veggies)
-Whole wheat pasta with a little pesto and mozzarella cheese

Everything was so good and we had cooked, eaten and cleaned up by 1:30. If we drive to town for Sunday lunch we don’t get home until 2:30 and then you feel like your whole day is gone. I was very happy about the money and time saving we had today. After lunch Lew and the babies napped and Emily and I chatted and caught up before she drove back to her college campus to start classes tomorrow.

The greatest part about my Sunday was my nap! Yes, I said nap! Since Lew started working full time away from home during the day I have only had 1 nap! Today at 4:00 I could barely hold my eyes open so I laid down for a thirty minute nap. The best part was I woke up an hour and a half later and Lew had fed the babies by himself and they were both napping in their cribs! (He is wonderful!) They only problem was we forgot about the avocado for the babies! But because we are just supplementing the formula with the avocado we just added a little extra formula to the next feeding and they were fine. It is so hard to get used to adding something new into our schedule.

At 6:00 our wonderful neighbor and her son came over to watch the babies for us while Lew and I went for a “long” run. This is just my second long run for my half marathon training. My goal was 6 miles…we went a total of 7.3 miles but I would say 2-3 of that was walking. We definitely do not live in a runner friendly town! We went to the only running trail I know of and it is so full of hills! I never got out of breath but my legs and right ankle were killing me! (I have reconstructed tendons in my right ankle) However, I have quit beating myself up about not accomplishing exactly what I set out for. I still went 7.3 miles! I ran a tough trail and felt really good about it!

Dinner= not good :(

I wanted a smoothies so bad and was out of bananas. So I tried the normal smoothie but replaced the banana with blueberries. Yuck! I did not like it! So I ate about 1/4 and then ate popcorn with the hubs! He makes homemade popcorn and I love it!

I hope you all have a great night!
