Project Food Blog: Ready, Set, Blog

For those of you who do not know, Food Buzz is have a blog contest to find the next Food Blogging Star. It is kind of like the Next Food Network Star TV show but for bloggers. I have decided to enter the competition and am very excited about participating!

Challenge #1: What defines you as a food blogger and why should you be the next food blog star?

Ready, Set, Blog!

I am new to the world of blogging. This past summer a friend of mine introduced me to my first healthy living/food blog and I have been an avid follower of many blogs since. I loved reading about other bloggers cooking experiences and efforts to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

At this point I was blogging on a different site to keep people up to date with the birth of my twins. The problem was after they were born I was uninspired to keep up with that blog. There just was not a specific theme of the blog and I could never get a good feel of the direction I wanted to be going. After a few months of frequenting food blogs I knew that is what I wanted to do. I had been looking for something to hold myself accountable to healthy eating and living and this was just the way to do it.

Inspirations number one and two: LB and Daisy

Through blogging I am sharing my journey of raising twins and living a healthy lifestyle along with teaching them how to live a healthy and happy life.

I am not a trained chef and have really just started getting back into cooking. For the last few months I have been too busy making bottles and changing diapers. Now that my babies are getting older I want them to be able to experience what real food is. I want them to enjoy eating fruits and veggies and know that healthy does not equal boring.

Here are a few things I love that make frequent appearances  here on

Ash and Lew Plus 2…

  • Peanut Butter

  • And obviously the two together is my idea of heaven :)

Why should I be the Next Food Blog Star?

I have struggled with food me entire life. My senior year of high school I lost over 50 pounds. This was done by exercising and changing eating habits. However, after I lost the weight the real struggle began; keeping the weight off. I struggled to find a balance between my love for food and eating healthy. The food I loved was not good for me and until recently I had not figured out how to combine my love of food and living healthy.

While I was pregnant with my twins my eating went out of control. I craved pizza, nachos, cookies and ice cream. During my pregnancy I gained 80 pounds! I have now lost all but about 15 of that and I can thank my blogging experience for making such an awesome impact on my view of life and food.

I think I should be the next food blogging star because I have a passion to help people through showing them how to prepare healthy foods and live healthy. I have been overweight and out of shape and have successfully turned my life around and hope to be able to help others do the same through blogging.

  61. Becky says:

Glad to meet you, and looking forward to seeing your adorable twins grow. I’ve found that since I’ve started blogging, it’s hard to find a healthy balance with cooking and baking. It’s not easy to bake healthy, but I look forward to reading your blog.

    1. It is definitely almost impossible to bake healthy so most of the time when i bake it i not healthy and then i just give it away!

  62. @lickmyspoon says:

Awesome blog! I love your passion for wanting to help people eat healthy, and for showing them that healthy can still equal delicious. Just voted, good luck!

    1. I am so glad you stopped by! I love the name of your blog. Licking the spoon is my favorite part of baking and I have a theory that any calories consumed by licking a spoon simply do not count!
