This morning I woke up knowing I would not be able to go to the gym again. (Hopefully tomorrow will be the day!) After a visit to the pediatrician Daisy was diagnosed with a small ear infection in her left ear and fluid on her right. Even though her ear infection is not contagious she does have a cough so he told me to avoid other children for a day or so. She has not coughed at all since about 1:00 this morning so hopefully we are on the mend.
Since I knew I would be home this morning I decided to get a little more in the Christmas spirit.
On my to do list:
- Continue getting out Christmas decor
- Continue cleaning clutter and toys out of the living room to fit a tree
- Make list for presents left to be bought
While thinking about the things left to buy I wanted to see how my traditions compare to how you all give gifts on Christmas. Lew and I do not give each other Christmas gifts. Instead we go on a trip for our anniversary which is Dec. 15. Our first anniversary we took the day off work and stayed in downtown Chattanooga at the hotel we stayed on our wedding night. Our second anniversary (last year) we sent to Park City, Utah. The original plan was to snowboard but I was very pregnant so most of my vaca was spent in the bed reading Twilight and watching the latest Tiger Woods news. This year we are going to Whistler, Canada and I am so very excited! So we consider these things our presents and are very happy with it that way! This year will obviously be a little different with the babies. However, we have also decided not to buy them any presents. Simply because they will have no idea what is going on and they will be getting plenty from other members of the family. I will have them each something small to open at our house Christmas morning but we felt best to use the money for toys and such for other things. (i.e. donating food/money and gifts for families in need)
This will also be the first Christmas I will spend without my mom and Lew without his family. Since we have been married we spend Christmas eve at my mom’s and wake up there Christmas morning and then drive to Lew’s family. This year Christmas is on Saturday and because of our church schedule we will be staying home this Christmas. People keep telling us this is great to start our own tradition. However, my favorite part of Christmas is having Christmas at my grandparents and I wish the same for our babies. So, in two years (when Christmas is on Monday) maybe we can start a new tradition.
Questions of the day: Do you give your spouse Christmas presents? Did you give your children a lot of gifts for their first Christmas (my husband suggests cardboard boxes)? Where is your favorite place to spend Christmas?
Since I woke up not in a hurry to get anywhere I thought eggs would make a good breakfast.
1 egg scrambled with 2 whites and 2% cheddar cheese and a side of whole wheat double fiber toast
Is it sad that I am already looking forward to having leftover chicken for lunch?
