Today has been a crazy but awesome day! I have lots of details and lots of food to show off from our small group Christmas party but you will have to come back in the morning for all of that. Tonight I have our 2nd giveaway for December to share with you.
As I mentioned last week I plan to do a giveaway every week in the month of December. This weeks giveaway is from Saag’s Specialty Meat company. Lew and I first tried Saag’s products at the Foodbuzz Festival Tasting Pavilion in San Francisco. Lew immediately fell in love with the food at the tasting pavilion and continued to love it while eating all the samples we snagged. In fact, he loved them so much he contacted the company before we even unpacked our suitcase to express his love. Of course they were thrilled that he was so in love with their specialty meats that they offered to send us some more samples and even offer a giveaway to four of Ash & Lew Plus 2′s readers! How cool is that!
Since our blog is about healthy living and balance Saag’s decided to send us some of there chicken sausages to sample. All of Saag’s products are all natural, free of MSG and have a surprisingly short ingredients list. As soon as I took a link out of the package and sliced it the aroma filled my kitchen and I remembered eating that same exact sausage in San Francisco! I was so excited to incorporate the sausage into our dinner Thursday night.
After scouring the kitchen I decided pasta would be a good idea. When I was pregnant Lew and I ate polish sausage and pasta at least once a week. Having the chicken sausage is definitely a way for us to have an old favorite be alot healthier.
I started with two links of the Asiago Fennel Sausage. (this smells SO good!)
I sliced two links (a serving is one link and I was making dinner for two). I cooked think links in a skillet until they were brown and starting to crisp on each side.
You can see the cheese!
After the sausage was starting to brown I added one tablespoon of pesto, one tablespoon of earth balance butter and about 2-3 tablespoons of organic half and half. Once the butter was melted and everything was incorporated I tossed two servings of cooked wheat pasta with the sausage and topped it with roasted broccoli.
This was SO good! I love pasta and sausage!
Saag’s has offered to send four of my readers packages of Asiago Fennel and Chicken Brats chicken sausage. To enter the giveaway leave a comment on this post telling me if you have ever tried chicken sausage or do you like to stay more on the traditional sausage path. If you would like to order some of their wonderful meat produts you can visit their website and they ship all over.
I will randomly pick four winners and will be announced Friday Dec. 10.
Have an awesome week!
