Roxy Snowboarding Camp: Day 1

This morning began at 4:00 am (Pacific time). Well for Lew at least. I got up around 5:30 and showered, drank coffee, read blogs and got ready for a full day of snowboarding.

For fuel I had oatmeal with peanut butter and a half packet of truvia. I am not sure I was a fan of the truvia in my oatmeal put I didn’t bring any honey. In my carryon I brought oats, peanut butter and truvia, the essentials :)

We also got to see the babies this morning on Skype. They were definitely not sure what to think about hearing our voices but not knowing where they were, It was so good to see them. I definitely miss them like crazy! During the day it is so much fun but after dinner when I am sitting here blogging on the couch I miss their sweet faces and wish I had them to cuddle with. However, I also know that it is great to have time away from them and I am cherishing every moment of me and Lew time.

The camp was awesome but not really what I expected. For the Roxy camp we met early this morning for muffins and coffee before hitting the slopes. We were broken up into groups by our experience level and then sent on our way with our group. I learned a lot today that i think will really help my future riding. I also got to meet a lot of great ladies and learn so much about their cultures. Megan, another girl, and I are the only Americans in our group so it is fun to tell stories about America and listen to stories about other countries. I am definitely not used to being the minority.

For lunch I had a roasted vegetable pita with hummus and a side of a cold couscous salad. It was good but also not what I expected. I don’t think I would order it again.

I liked the camp but I am really hoping we will do something different tomorrow. I am definitely ready to see more of this beautiful mountain.

Since I knew I wouldn’t be able to take many pictures today I handed our freeze proof/shatter proof (yes, that is necessary with my husband) point and shoot camera to Lew to take pictures. He came back with 6 and i hope you enjoy them. Maybe more will come tomorrow.

After our day was over we headed back to our condos to shower and get ready for dinner. Snowboarding makes you so hungry! We decided to try a place called The Brewhouse and I am so happy we did. I absolutely loved it. It was a great atmosphere and an awesome menu. Everything sounded so good! Since everything sounded so yummy I wanted to showcase all four of our dinners.

Lew and Ashlee – we are jealous! You two are receiving one of God’s most wonderful gifts – the beauty of being outside with nature and all it has to offer in it’s setting of mountains, snow, and sky! We look forward to hearing tales and seeing more pictures! You’re right when you say that the cold and snow combined with all that exercise brings on a big appetite. It makes us remember our first experience snow skiing in Michigan. We bought skiis for each other for Christmas and hit the slopes in northern Michigan, non-stop, for a week. We ate like starving pigs every night, and when we hit the sack, never woke up for 12 hours every day! Be careful up there in Canada. Take time to rest. Your flock depends on your safe and rested return. You’re in our daily prayers. Les and Kay
