I was so happy this afternoon when I pulled up my blog and everything was back!! Well, almost everything. I am missing the last three posts I did but I can live with that. I am happier that the last month is back and I can live without those last three.
Today our friends Joe and Alana came to visit! You might remember Joe from the marathon he and Lew ran in November. When we lived in Chattanooga Joe and Alana lived there as well and we often had game night. Now we live about two hours apart and rarely get together so we were all very excited to catch up and play a few games. They are also expecting a baby boy in May and obviously I love baby talk so we had lots of fun!
For lunch I made a roasted chicken using Mrs. Dash Mesquite Seasoning. I served the chicken with steamed green beans and Alexia’s Chipotle Sweet Potato Fries.
When we have company Lew thinks it is necessary to have an appetizer so we baked some Alexia cheese sticks to enjoy before lunch.
After lunch the babies napped and game play began!
A few games of Sequence and one strange game of partner skip-bo.
LB wanted to help his Daddy play!
Joe and Alana also brought LB and Daisy their first birthday present. They loved the Mega Blocks! They are perfect to chew on
I used the self-timer on my camera for the first time to take this picture of all of us!
Don’t you love how one of my children is in flannel pajamas and the other is half dressed…
Such a great Saturday!
Random Question of the Day: I am looking for recipe ideas for the baby’s first birthday cupcakes! I am thinking of making a vegan cupcake for them. LB has a milk intolerance and I am thinking there would be more health benefits in a vegan cupcake. Or if not a vegan cupcake/cake how about just ideas or recipes for ways to add more nutrients and benefits to their cake. Feel free to leave links or recipes in the comments section. Thanks
Having children is an ever learning process. I learn something about my babies every day and they change every day. Over the last few weeks our schedule with LB and Daisy is ever changing. It seems as if they are going through a growth spurt or something and are super hungry and LB has returned to his 5 a.m. wake up time ready to down a bottle. So, I am having to learn how to feed them 3 meals a day along with their bottles. (Obviously, these are very small meals). The key to sleep for my babies is making sure they have taken in enough calories throughout the day that they are full for the 12 or so hours they normally sleep. We are also dealing with the idea of having to start weaning from the bottle over the next couple months. LB and Daisy are 11 months old today! I cannot believe it! I know our life is only going to continue to change but I am very excited about it!
LB and Daisy at 1 week old.
On to today…
Today Lew and I were both wanting toast but there were only 3 pieces left. Since we both eat very filling breakfasts one piece of toast is not enough. So, I made Lew two pieces of toast. (One with peanut butter, one with earth balance “butter” and cinnamon) For me I made one piece of peanut butter toast and a big green smoothie.
- 1 container of peach chobani yogurt
- 1 cup vanilla coconut milk
- 1 frozen banana
- lots of fresh spinach
I loved this smoothie! However, I did not intend on buying coconut milk at the store. I meant to buy almond milk but they had put a new brand of coconut milk where the almond milk normally is . It is definitely not my favorite but I am not going to let it go to waste.
Today’s workout was upper body day. I love working on my arms, shoulders and back. I think because it is where I see the most improvement so it makes me happy . I also like upper body day because it always seems easier than the other days. Don’t get me wrong, it is a GREAT workout, but it is nice that it’s a little easier.
I am trying REALLY hard to not let food in our house go to waste. So, even though I hardly ever cook pork bacon we had a few slices left over from Sunday night so I decided to make breakfast burritos.
I ate two burritos and am having to keep myself in the living room for a few minutes because something about them just did not satisfy me. They were tasty thought.
Each burrito had scrambled eggs (a mix of one egg and three whites for four burritos), a little shredded cheddar cheese, and one slice of bacon.
Now I am off to pack and probably have another cup of coffee, the babies and I are going on a little trip
