On February 26, 2010 my life changed forever. Not only did I give birth to my beautiful babies, I gave birth to them on my birthday! I think this is super cool but it also changes my special day of the year to “our” special day. One of the nurses in the hospital told me that there would be one person that always made sure I had my special day each year and that person would be my mom. The nurse was right. Months ago my mom started planning a day for us to get together to celebrate my birthday so I would have my own day. She did the same last year bringing a cookie cake to me a month after my birthday. This year we planned to have dinner in Knoxville and she would bring me a special dessert.
Before the celebrating began we had a little pre-celebration outside of best buy that included subway cookies. It was my pretend birthday, I can have as many desserts as I want.
LB did NOT want to look at the camera.
My cookie of choice, Double chocolate-chocolate chip. Yum!
After our pre-celebration cookie we headed into best-buy to get my lens fixed. Apparently the geek squad doesn’t fix lenses so long story short (well sort of short) they returned my broken lens (we never really figured out what was wrong…I blamed the babies at first but I think something was defective in the ultrasonic motor) and gave us a gift card to order another off the internet because they do not sale it in stores. So, we headed to the camera department to place our order and it turns out they no longer are selling the 50 mm 1.5 lens! So, fast forward to today after two hours on the phone with best buy I have a 100 mm macro lens being shipped to me. Apparently they are discontinuing the 50 mm 1.4 and I am very sad about that and determined to find another one! I loved that lens. Anyway…
For lunch we dined at Calhoun’s which is a local upscale BBQ/Bar and Grill restaurant. I ordered the bbq chicken salad and it was delicious.
For dessert my mom picked up cupcakes for all of us.
Lew had a red velvet with cream cheese icing.
I had a cookies and cream cupcake
These cupcakes were pretty good. I ate half in the restaurant and then when we got home I had a great idea. See, they were good but tasted like they had been sitting in a cooler so I put the second half in the microwave for about 12 seconds. Holy cow! It was so good!
Lots of sugar was consumed yesterday and we had an awesome day! I got a couple of gifts yesterday but my favorite gift was a sweet letter my sister wrote me! I have read it twice and cry every time. I love you Kirb! You are awesome and that letter meant the world to me!
