This Saturday is quite a bit calmer than last Saturday. This time last week I was frantically trying on everything in my closet trying to find that perfect outfit to wear to my kid’s first birthday party. I still don’t know what that perfect outfit is but I was comfy and that is what matters. This Saturday I have already put LB and Daisy down for their morning nap, have started laundry and reorganizing our pantry. On the to do list for today is to make 6 batches of our family turkey and dressing recipe for a fundraiser lunch at church tomorrow. Since Wednesday we have cooked and pulled 6 turkeys! Yes, we are crazy! I will get some photos later so you can see how our kitchen has officially been taken over by zip loc bags full of turkey and containers full of corn bread in our fridge.
Anyhow, I decided to pull out a frozen mini cupcake from the birthday party and put on top of my oatmeal this morning. It was pretty good but simple peanut butter and honey is still my favorite but I am out of honey and completely forgot to pick some up at the store.
So, I made my usual mix (oats, almond milk and water) added a frozen mini cupcake and cooked in the microwave for 3 minutes. (Oats are always better cooked on the stove but with two babies crawling everywhere its pretty much impossible). I then added a spoon of natural peanut butter and then had a little photo shoot.
I am having a hard but fun time figuring out this new macro lens. It is so different! I love it but it is definitely more complex than what I am use to and I am having to learn and focus a lot more when taking food photos. I think I am going to start taking my food outside since it is getting prettier out. Maybe that will help…
Last night we had dinner with friends of ours who have a little girl just 2 months older than LB and Daisy. It is so nice to be able to leave our babies with people we trust and love to go out for a little grown up time. We ate at a local restaurant called The Butcher’s Block. It was great. Lew and I split the cajun ribeye and I had a cup of soup and side salad with my portion of the steak. I do not normally eat beef because it sometimes hurts my stomach but this was grass fed angus (from some mid-western state, I don’t remember what the menu said) and it was so good! I completely forgot my camera but it wasn’t a very photographer friendly restaurant anyway.
I hope you all have a productive Saturday! (Or a lazy one if that is more you thing
)
