About

Oh how so much can change in a year!

Welcome to my world of Ash & Lew Plus 2!

My name is Ashlee and I am a 24 year old stay at home mom to beautiful twin toddlers. They were born on February 26, 2010 and my life will forever be better because they are in it. I am married to my amazing husband, Lew, who continues to support and amaze me every day. Lew is the pastor of two churches in North East Tennessee and is also an assistant football coach at our local high school. Along with being a stay at home mom (who actually isn’t home all that much therefore all that term really means is that I do not work outside of the home in the traditional sense that the term implies) I help Lew in whatever he is working on, I write this wonderful blog and I have also started an adventure in professional photography.

When I started this blog in August of 2010 my only purpose was for this blog to help me get healthy. Now this blog is so much more. I use my blog as a way to give insight into my families life so that those family members we live away from can feel like they are here with us. I also use my blog to give helpful tips and recipes to others that find their life filled up with so much stuff we can hardly see straight. Or really just anyone who finds time to stop in and read what I have to say. I still use my blog as a way to stay healthy and hold myself accountable and hope to become better at this as time goes by.

  1. That’s my plan too – “Would I want my kids to eat this”. Such a good philosophy as I know I would never want to give my children sugar free French Vanilla Coffee-Mate…one of my old favorites, and the thought of the HEABlet seeing that in the house keeps me from ever wanting to buy it again!

  2. I recently gave up my sugar free French Vanilla coffee mate as well! There is something about that stuff that is so yummy! I have switched to only using organic half and half. (I just can’t stand skim milk in my coffee!) Since starting my new food philosophy of just asking that simple question I feel so great and can definitely tell a difference in my body.

  3. I’m so excited that you stopped by my blog, that way I was able to find your blog! You and I are so on the same page. I have been an eating organic for the last 10 years and I totally live my life with the same idea of would I really want my kids to eat that. I’m really excited to see how your journey progresses and I’m thrilled to be a new follower.

    1. Thanks for stopping by! My babies are definitely my motivation for healthy living. (Although I don’t believe I will ever encourage them eating two pieces of cake in one day like I did yesterday!)

Your babies are beautiful! Congratulations! I love that you ask yourself “would I want my kids to eat this?”. What a good mom!

    1. Thanks Kath! I know I don’t always eat the best things but I try to to eat many things I would not want my kids to eat. It has truly changed the way I look at food.

  5. What an awesome food philosophy! Love it! You are going to be such a good role model for your kids! Your babies are absolutely beautiful!

“would i want my kids to eat this?” is a great philosophy. i can’t expect my son to eat fruit and veggies if i’m sitting there eating chips in front of him. your babies are adorable, by the way!

    1. That is exactly what I am thinking. I am trying really hard but obviously I fall and don’t always follow my philosophy but I am trying! :)

Thank you very much. LB and Daisy are now 10months old and we are really being challenged every day because they are starting to eat things that we cook for ourselves and it is becoming a great challenge for both Lew and I. Thank you for stopping by.
