Whistler Blackcomb About got the Best of Me

I cannot tell you how excited my hubby was this morning to look out of our condo window and see huge snow flakes flying all around and at least 4 inches of new snow. It was beautiful!

The snow was awesome but I sure was glad to see it come to an end as we made our way up the mountain today. I love the fresh powder but am not really a fan of riding with the snow blowing in my face.

When snowboarding with the boys there is normally a time when we get stuck and it just really sucks. That definitely happened today. We were attempting to get to a part of the mountain called 7th Heaven. In our efforts to get there we went half way down a little ledge and then decided it was not the best route. So, that means Lew and I pulled ourselves out of a few feet of snow up to a cat track (flat run) and walk through fresh snow back to the main run. It was terrible but beautiful all at the same time.

We thought it might be a good idea to push Lew to help make a path for us to follow.

FAIL! but we did make it!

After climbing up the ledge and numerous cat tracks my legs were on fire and my toes were numb from being so cold! Luckily we had a relaxing lunch break and then we got back on the mountain. Lew and I did some really cool runs after lunch and I really pushed myself. I was super exhausted and was falling more than normal but I had a great time.

Today was tough! But it was also awesome. It was fun to get to see more of the mountain and I had a great time with Lew. I am definitely feeling it right now and don’t think I was this sore when I got home from Nashville after running the half-marathon!

I am not sure what my tomorrow will hold. I am waiting to see how my so very sore body right now feels in the morning. I will also have a recap of our Japanese dinner at Teppan Village we enjoyed tonight. For now, I am going to sleep!

Roxy Snowboarding Camp Day 2

Yesterday was a tough day! Saturday night it snowed alot! It was beautiful but the bad thing is that we woke up to rain drops outside of our window :( It continued to rain all morning. Rain + Fresh snow= slushy nastiness! When you add in 9 beginnerish snowboarding girls it was HARD! However, we did not quit! We took an hour and half lunch break and froze because we were soaking wet. I could squeeze water from my glove liners. I thought that getting back on the mountain was going to be awful but it was actually great. The snow was not as much like sinking sand and I was warmer than I thought. I think the camp was definitely worth it and I am so excited to get back on the mountain tomorrow with Lew and show him everything I learned.

Luckily I had an awesome breakfast to give me lots of fuel: whole wheat toast with natural peanut butter with green drink and a cup of coffee. (or maybe 3)

When we took our lunch break yesterday I knew I was going to need some serious energy so I had a huge slice of chicken pesto pizza with a ceasar salad. It was super yummy!

Lew took a couple pictures of snow yesterday.

After a long day we came back to our rooms for a short rest and showers before dinner. The plan was to have sushi but the sushi place was closed last night so we went to a restaurant called Ric’s. We invited one of our snowboard instructors to dinner with us and she suggested Ric’s and it was awesome! Miyah if you are reading we had an awesome time with you!

We started our dinner off with a crustini topped with goat cheese, almonds and a roasted tomato salsa.

For my entree I had the grilled chicken, goat cheese salad. This was lovely! It was so light and not overdressed. I  believe it was simply dressed with a little olive oil. The goat cheese added the perfect amount of creaminess. Love!

Lew had the special: 10 oz. New York Strip with crab, veggies and a stuffed baked potato

And the night ended with one of the best pieces of chocolate cake I have ever eaten

Such a good day!

Today we are taking the day off from the slopes. I am sore from my two day camp and the weather is a little yucky. Snow is in the forecast tomorrow so the boys thought to use their off day today.

Happy Monday! I should be back tonight!
